Arts & Ability Roundtable (Video Recording), Muckenthaler Cultural Center, Artist in Residency Program

Hello everyone,

Last weekend, as part of the artist-in-residency program through The Muckenthaler Cultural Center, we hosted an Arts & Ability Roundtable. This virtual event brought together 5 unique artists/designers, each with incredible creative practices, and each experience vision loss and/or related disabilities.

Arts & Ability Roundtable: Presentations, Discussions, and Q&A

Our all-star group of panelists, artists, and presenters included:

(1) Kurt Weston, professional artist and photographer,

(2) Marleena Barber, vocalist, educator, and disability advocate,

(3) Mishelle Link, interior designer, entrepreneur, and CEO of Michelle Link Interior Design,

(4) Valerie Alcaraz, award-winning visual artist and international arts and language educator,

and…

(5) Michael J. Dougherty, writer, screenwriter, and co-founder of ReelAbilitiesLA!

Parentheses International Literary Arts Journal, Issue #3

The most recent issue of Parentheses International Literary Arts Journal has been published, both digitally and in print.  While I was at the Vermont Studio Center in December 2017, I wrote a poem titled "Ages" which traces family generations.  I am fortunate that this poem is featured in the current issue of Parentheses.

EBLAR 2018 - Artist-in-Residence

On January 6th, 2018, I'll begin the EBLAR 2018 artist residency in Elephant Butte Lake State Park, New Mexico.  I  am looking very forward to this opportunity to dive into more painting and video work, as well as connect with fellow artists in this peaceful and beautiful setting.  Resident artists will also have a group exhibition in January -- details to come.
